Ive seen one one ebay and the guy said it should fit. he said the code was 1Z and the BHP was 90, but the code on my broken engine is AFN and BHP 110??? Any help would be brilliant. seatkid Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Unless you get the engine with all the ancillaries attached - vacuum pipes - ecu, wiring - even some of the cooling components, I think you may have a difficult time making it work. The 1Z engine is the earlier Euro II predessor to the Euro III AHU engine which has revised turbo gear, emission control and of course a new ECU.Of course Passat ancillaries are quite likely to be different to Shalaxy ancillaries....I even suspect the mountings and gearbox may have been revised in the 1998 model change from 1Z to AHU engines. The AFN engine has a totally diferent turbo and vacuum circuit, different ECU no doubt and IIRC has a upgraded cooling system with built in oil cooler. So you may require some re-engineering skill...but it may be possible.... Quote
